A TWO-KILOMETER RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOOD TO EMERGE ALONG VERKHNEUFALEISKAYA STREET IN YEKATERINBURG
TWO DEVELOPERS TO SIMULTANEOUSLY ACQUIRE 33 HECTARES OF LAND
A new residential neighbourhood will emerge in Yekaterinburg between Shirokaya Rechka and Akademicheskyi districts. It will be located along Verkhneufaleiskaya Street which is currently projected. The development will extend to almost 2 kilometers. Two developers – LSR and Stroytech, who bought this area last year from RSG-Akademicheskoe – will be acquiring 33 hectares of land together.
'This area used to have a development concept, but its structure was based on large and extensive 25-storey high-rises. These "walls" crossed the area all over. Social infrastructure and public spaces were located somewhere on the fringe. Developers turned to us to design a new concept for the whole area', says Ekaterina Abdullaeva, chief architect of ARCHINFORM bureau.
For the new concept, the architects switched from high-rises to human-scale development. Block dimensions vary: 85 x 90 meters, 100 x 120 meters, 80 x 105 meters. Public zone will be located between two residential areas. The structure of each block will be worked on individually.

All the yard spaces are open into public spaces, which are located throughout the area. This will allow us to include private spaces into the public life. Some sportsgrounds and playgrounds are located out here', says Ekaterina Abdullaeva.

In order to make the development more versatile, the architects added high-rise focal points, which also stand out with the colours of their façades. Underground spaces of this area were not used. Aboveground parking spaces are evenly located throughout this long and narrow land plot.
The overall area of residential development in the new neighbourhood will comprise 400 thousand square meters.
